Breathe Clean Project

The Breathe Clean initiative is Government funded and is running in collaboration with Hertfordshire County Council's 'Let's Clean the Air Campaign'. The project will work with schools to highlight things that we can do to protect ourselves, whilst also raising awareness to reduce air pollution.

Councillor Tim Hoskin (Executive Member for Environmental Sustainability - East Herts Council) visited Abel Smith School on the day of the workshop and spoke with the children about their activities and what they had learnt. Councillor Hoskin said, "Air pollution causes avoidable deaths across the UK every year and children are particularly at risk as their immune systems, lungs and brains are still developing."

We are lucky to be part of the project and proudly launched the campaign for East Hertfordshire.

In June 2023, Year 5 helped to kickstart the Breathe Clean Project in East Hertfordshire. Supported by MP Smarter Travel, the children participated in an air pollution workshop and created a newsflash video to raise awareness about this issue.
