After a mad week of weather, we had to unfortunately cancel our class trip in its original form. However, our very adaptable year 2 team prepared trip activities that we could complete at school instead!
First, we looked at 2 different seeds, a sunflower seed and a runner bean seed. We compared the way they looked and felt. There were some similarities but many differences. Then we planted each seed into a pot thinking about what a seed needs to grow well.
After lunch we considered what other living things need to grow well. This led to us building a nest for some new baby birds to help them to grow well. We made a structure from newspaper before using some natural resources like twigs and leaves to create the final cosy nests. They will be moved into the outside space to encourage living things to use them to keep warm in this unusually cold spring.
